When I purchased my Palace resorts membership for quite a bit of money, I was told that I would not have to pay again.

Now I am told that I have to pay to go there the full amount that they would charge non members. In fact, It is cheaper to book them through another web site than through their own.

I can not find the name of someone in authority to help me straighten things out. I've been told that is the way things are whether I like it or not.

I am quite disappointed with them and I believe they misrepresented themselves

YES, 1/17/2019 I TOO AGREE, Members since 2007 and my husband was scammed again in 2012, So I am really upset. THIS statement is true.

I have brought this to the attention of everyone I talk to.

DO NOT BE SCAMMED. BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU GO TO A RESORT NOT TO *** ANYONE OFF, the staff will get revenge

It is a scam!!! I am a member and so pissed that it is not even funny!!

I spent 10,000.00 on my membership to end up paying more to go than if I was not a member.

It is a waste of money and I am trying to forget about the money i paid because every time i think about i get sick! DO NOT BUY PALACE RESORTS MEMBERSHIP!!!!

I agree with anyone who has had trouble with customer service. I've staying @ that moon palace once, it was ok.

I c they changed the name & some other things, so my husband & i decided 2 go back, but getting thru 2 customer service is a joke, u never speak with same persn, they r not friendly, their english is not clear. We only paid $5K for our membership once its paid we will not renew or upgrade

I was just at the Cancun Palace (Aug. 20-27/11) and would like to comment on Carlas' post about that their Premier entitlements have changed - massage, etc.

This is not true. While I was there in Aug., I got the additional mini pedicure/manicure and 25 min massage, as well as the 300 resort spa dollars. Our kids were charged the $47 per child fee - nothing has changed.

I checked the members website and the fees are the same - have not changed this year. You have to look at the double jacuzzui prices on the website.

Guest

With premier memberships they no longer honour the included massage, manicure and pedicure. We also paid about 25K.

Suddenlym children 12 -17 are paying about $95 / day. Go figure. We were there in March 2011 and paid $47/day for our 2 children. They are not drinking and don't tend to eat much but the fee has doubled for them! I have the 2011 preferential rates posted earlier this year but even those have been raised. I just checked on the cost for September 2011 --not exactly high season and it is more than what was published just a few months ago. Really dishonest.

We've used our membership 6 times but still have 3 free weeks coming. We'll use those and then I'll be done with the Palace Resorts. They aren't playing fair and the value just isn't there any longer.

To Neal

Neal, this is a scam. I paid 25k for things that were promised and they are not there now.

I fully know I have to pay all inclusive fees. Since you seem ti be an internet user, just go to ebay.com and type Palace resorts. You will see prices there that are WAY less that what we get for paying 25K. This is a SCAM.

PERIOD. No if's or but's about it.

Boy....isnt it obvious which reviews are written by consumers and which ones by marketing personnel from the Palace Resorts

the place is HORRIBLE. horrible food, bad service and totally unknowledgable staff.

perhaps if you are wearing that black wrist band you might get a little nicer treatment.

but save you money and go somewhere else

I did the *** thing of buying a palace premier package. It is A WASTE OF MONEY.

If I take into account how much I paid, I could have had vacations in other places and still have money left. Customer services is questionable for reservations. I have been calling for 3 days trying to get access on line for my account. I have now got hold of them and received a temp password which does not work.

Highly frustrating for a 5 star resort. I would sell this *** is I could

Even if your contract says something, I have found that Palace resorts does not honor it. Our contract says that we get 10% off of published public rates on the Palace website.

When you try to get that, they tell you that it is a promotion and you do not get the 10% off. My contract does not mention anything about promotions. I am thinking about contacting my lawyer and doing a breech of contract.

They are not holding up their end of the contract and I am tired of paying for something that I am not getting that is outline in my contract. Even when I showed them that page of my contract, they had excuses.

My wife and I have been members since 1988 and we have upgraded 3 times. Our son had his wedding at the Moon Palace last year with over 100 guests without a single complaint.

If there are issues at the resort be courteous but stress the need to have the problem resolved immediately. A $5 tip goes a long way, it may not be right but it's the Chicago way!

Aug. 2010 - Be aware of the Palace Resorts Scam regarding "buying your existing timeshares".

We told them we already had 2 weeks and did not want any more., So the told us they could "buy" our timeshares with an Equity Exchange. They put us in contact with Holiday Transfer Services. We paid our 2009 maintenance fees and $1,600 in transfer fees for the 2 units. Then we paid $9,000 down with a payment schedule of 191.66 for 48 months which totals over $18,000.

Holiday never did the transfer, (they said they had financial troubles) we were turned over to a collection agency for our 2010 fees from our former timeshare weeks plus late fees that are now $928 each. Our credit is ruined and we now own all 3 places. All they want to do is give is spa credits or some other "credit/money off some deal which will endup costing us more.

AND they want us to start the process over with a company called Global Transfer. Which I think is nothing more than another scam and we will be right back where we started

Has this happened to anyone else?

The main and only reason I contacted palace recently a รขโ‚ฌล“Founding Member VIPรขโ‚ฌย was the building and were it was facing. In purchasing my contracts I was told by the sales force that I would have preferred accommodation requests all I would need to do is call ahead and reserve it.

Apparently that is not the case. It is also stated in the contract. This is what attracted us to make and continue to make fairly large investments with Palace. It behooves me that a particular room # in a particular building at a particular resort cannot reserved.

I know the palace has this functionality in the individual resorts to this. It just leads me to believe those rooms with the ideal views are saved for new visitors who donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt have memberships and investments so you can sell them on that ideal view. Once sold it is a rarity to ever have those accommodations again. Now, if my wife and I traveled to any of the palace resorts 4 or 5 times a year requesting such specific requests I can understand you cannot have it all the time.

The truth is my wife and I travel once a year sometimes, once every two years and not being able to guarantee a specific request on room (1 room) and location makes me question my past investment or contracts with palace. I will no longer invest as I have been every two or three years and not recommend memberships to others. It was the preferential room selection that was the main reason for our investment and I was told I would get, so from that stand point and the fact there is no difference in preferential rates and non member rates for an indefinite amount of time makes a รขโ‚ฌล“Founding Member VIPรขโ‚ฌย title of loyalty and longevity really means nothing.

Our feeling of regret and facts presented will probably not make it to senior managment however looking at all the posts I say to myself why did I dump so much money...must have the tequila.

:sigh

I concur with comments by (Jim 8/1/10). I have had some complaints, but mostly related to a specific resort (Dom.Republic).

Most of these comments sounds like customers that did not fully know what they were buying, and did not ask questions. When we joined, the sales staff were very clear and honest, plus, the paperwork is quite clear that members have to pay the all-inclusive fee. Your membership basically pays for the room, the all-inclusive fee covers the food, drinks & so forth. I also have compared travelocity, cheaptickets & others to my membership prices and they are more...generally about $500-****/week more....not counting the services (Spa, transportation, etc.) you have included with membership.

However, Palace properties tend to be some of the more expensive options in Cancun, and you CAN save money by going to other resorts, especially if you're not into the whole SPA/GOLF resort scene. For example, if me and a buddy go on a short diving trip, I'll stay in the cheaper ones, but use my membership for the family vacations.

Overall, membership is not a *Great Deal* or huge savings, but it has helped "force" us to take more vacations !

We just became members while on vacation in July. We were so excited to come home and go over our paperwork and start planning our vaction for next year!

Here is what we discovered....We were asked how old our children were (11 & 13) and they said there were certain months in the summer when they would stay and eat free! The fine print in our paperwork say only kids 12 and under. Also we were told that we would receive transportation to and from the airport which is a good deal since it is about $20 each way. Well surprise!....That only apply to this year.

Then we were told that as members we would receive a $1500 credit towards spa, tours, private dinners, etc. Well guess what, that is a promotion that EVERYONE gets just for booking with the hotel. You can even get that credit if you book on a website like Hotwire or Travelocity! Some deal huh?

Thank goodness our price was only $3500 instead of some of those poor people that had to pay around $20,000. But still the fact remains the same. WE WERE LIED TO! We are in the process of trying to cancel our membership but they are making every argument they can.

And they keep saying we understand if you can't afford it right now, we can put your account on hold for a year. It's not the money issue. It's that we just want was promised to us! With all that said, It is a beautiful place to stay.

I hope that we can get things worked out.

Just beware of what they are telling you. And read EVERYTHING before you sign on the line!

We've been members for over 10 years and go every year with complete satisfaction, "until last week".. We had 5 rooms at the Sun Palace for the week of July 4 to July 11. We tried to take advantage of our silver membership and have a perfect wedding for my Son and new Bride on the grounds of the hotel, "Which was nice" but everything else about this week was a total disappointment! We went to the Customer Representative and requested maintenance to 3 of our rooms that were one inch deep of water wall to wall because of rain water coming under the thresh-hold of the door. They acted like we were a nuisance and said they would send maintenance over. All they did was send over the cleaning ladies with squeegee to push the water around, which resulted in rooms not getting cleaned twice that week because they were busy doing maintenance work. We were told by staff "They were aware of the flooding issues with several of the guest rooms for quite some time". One room had no hot water in the shower for three days with no response until the fourth and angry visit to the CR desk. One room, the refrigerator never did work. Our room smelled like mold so bad it made all of our clothes smell like they were dirty.

To top it all off when trying to pay for our room tabs they ran my bank card for $2015 and said it was denied!!! Then we tried my wife's card and split the bill and paid the balance with her bank card. We quickly discovered that the cashier actually did get an authorization to charge our account for the original $2015, it just took longer for authorization because he typed the numbers in. Needles to say they screwed up and doubled charged our account $2015 and now I'm left with trying to straighten out what they did with my bank this week! We did find out from one of the staff that Palace Resorts were under new ownership and they made huge cuts on staffing! I haven't been this pissed about anything for a long time.

By the way the gift shop discount that came with our $25K membership investment with the resort is gone! - Makes me wonder what we'll get stiffed for next?

:cry We had visited Moon Palace twice before, this time we brought guests. My husband had to have a membership ( I should not have signed my name).

Our friends bought jewely on site, day before we left, all items they purchased were stolen.

The hotel did not think this was an inside job. i did.

The other rip-off about the Palace Resorts program is their affiliation with RCI. They tell you that, because their home base is Cancun, RCI exchanges are fast + easy.

In fact, this is not true. Even allowing for 1-year advance exchange requests, I have found it almost impossible to make exchanges to desireable places in desireable times.

The RCI people laugh when I tell them that Palace Resorts told me that I should be receiving VIP treatment from them - in fact, we seem to be the bottom of the barrel. Do not buy the Palace Resorts time share programs - they're a huge rip-off.

Guest

I can't comment on what they told you, but members do not pay more than non-members. We were told, and understood, that for the non-free weeks that you pay the "all-inclusive" fee, which is essentially your food, plus the tours.

Right now, if you book through Travelocity, or Amex, or Cheapcaribbean you will pay from $500-$1000 MORE than the member price (I've checked because we are having some friends come with us and I want to make sure I can give them a good deal). However, as a member they also give you "free" weeks (really, they are pre-paid weeks). Members are eligible for most of the promotions (such as the airline credit).

Believe me, we've had our complaints and they do tell you some things that turn out not to be true, but we've been very happy members since 2006 and have visited 5-6 times
